Product Details

Original Item: Only One Available. A budenovka (Russian: будёновка, tr. budyonovka) is a distinctive type of hat, an archetypal part of the Communist military uniforms of the Russian Civil War (1917-1922) and later conflicts. Its official name was the "broadcloth helmet" (шлем суконный). Named after Red cavalry commander Semyon Budyonny, it was also known as the "frunzenka" after the Commissar Mikhail Frunze. It is a soft, woolen hat that covers the ears and neck. The cap features a peak and folded earflaps that can be buttoned under the chin.

This is a very nice example of a WWII Issue Model 36 Budenovka Winter Cap, which is in very nice gently used condition. The exterior is made from dark gray wool, and it has a small fabric visor on the front. It has a raspberry colored star sewn on the front, which has a Soviet Red Star pinned in place. The star shows mostly intact enamel and is made of non-ferrous metal.

The interior is dark gray cloth, most likely cotton, with padding and insulation. There is a arsenal mark on the back, which has a "Hammer and Sickle" mark and a date of 1939.

This is the first example of this type of cap that we have had, and it's definitely a prime example. Ready to display!
